When Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez—the former co-creative directors and founders of Proenza Schouler—presented their debut collection for Loewe during Paris Fashion Week a year ago, the message was clear: a new chapter for the heritage House had arrived.

With the design duo’s debut came subtle changes. A new design language felt modern while still paying homage to Loewe’s heritage codes, while a sleek, redesigned Anagram logo quietly announced that a new Loewe was upon us.

Loewe’s Iconic Anagram Logo Gets a Modern Makeover

Loewe has remained an “if you know, you know” luxury label thanks to its understated branding and classic Anagram logo, made up of four Ls but only noticeable if you look closely. The now-iconic Loewe Anagram logo was designed in 1970 by Spanish painter Vicente Vela and was later redesigned when Jonathan Anderson joined the House in late 2013.

This year, with Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez at Loewe’s helm, the historic Anagram logo gets a new look once again. Rather than make the logo louder or more in-your-face, Loewe’s new co-creative directors slimmed down the iconic symbol, cutting it in half to feature two intertwined Ls.

The new logo first started appearing on denim, bags, and more earlier this year, and now it makes a bold debut on the brand’s latest footwear drop—and we are immediately obsessed.

Meet Loewe’s New Double L Loafer

The Loewe Double L loafer takes the soft, ruched loafer trend to the next level with the addition of its new logo. What makes the shoe so interesting is not only its shape, but also the fact that the logo is completely monochromatic to the shoe, seamlessly blending in while standing out—the epitome of the Loewe brand.

The shoe’s gathered construction emphasizes the House’s longstanding commitment to quality and craft, as do its materials. Arriving in both supple calfskin and soft suede, the Double L loafer has all the makings of a major hit. Colors include black, dark brown, caramel, and bold royal purple.
