Maria Grazia Chiuri Explores Fashion as a Second Skin for Spring 2027

Maria Grazia Chiuri presented her sophomore collection for Fendi yesterday in Milan, exploring the idea of fashion as more than just clothes, but a second skin—how they relate to the body. Ready-to-wear is mostly soft and inherently fluid, with underpinnings becoming a focal point.

Softness, Layers, and Feminine Silhouettes

There is a lightness to the collection, which is full of romantic laces, soft silks, and distinctly feminine silhouettes. Still, there is a push-pull at play, and this is emphasized through layering and a juxtaposition of fabrics. Some delicate and innately feminine, others heavier and undeniably more edgy. Silk meets animal print, lace juxtaposes embroidery, and pieces at once deemed our most intimate are given new life for the everyday.

Layering is a constant theme throughout, drawing upon the idea that just as bodies mix, garments do too, and this season, MGC melds women’s and men’s dress into one, showing looks for both men and women, reconfirming the fluidity of fashion.

The Baguette Takes Center Stage

As for the bags, once again this collection proves that the Fendi Baguette is and will always be that girl. A parade of them hit the runway, dressed in everything from lizard and fur to leopard pony hair and beaded fringe, the collection’s bags are a Fendi collector’s dream.

Some were shown carried alongside FF Zucca logo print totes, while elsewhere, larger shapes like the iconic Peekaboo and the Mama Baguette arrive in exotics like eel and crocodile. Fringe also proved to be making a comeback—the Fendi way—seen throughout on classics like the Peekaboo and the Baguette.

For a bit of newness, Chiuri introduces a small turnlock handheld clutch with a gold chain, which appeared throughout, and a couple of commercialized oversized shoppers. View bags from the runway below.
