Matthieu Blazy Takes Chanel to New Heights for Spring 2027

One year into his tenure at Chanel, Matthieu Blazy has taken Chanel to new heights, building upon the vision set forth in his first two chapters for the House, Spring 2026 and Fall 2026.
While last season Blazy played with the idea of metamorphosis, inspired by the transformation of a caterpillar morphing into a butterfly, this season he was captivated by the evolution that happens within every woman.
Blazy specifically was inspired by the transfiguration of Gabrielle Chanel throughout her life, explaining in the show notes:
“Throughout their lives, women become multiple selves, different faces of the same coin…It’s about the women within a woman. And here, it’s about one woman, Gabrielle, who then became Chanel.”
A Study of Gabrielle Chanel
The collection mirrors different eras of Gabrielle Chanel’s life, and the ready-to-wear is an exquisite example of Blazy’s study of Coco. From the collection’s early looks, which feature sheer, underpinning-inspired looks, to modern interpretations of the post-war suit.
Look 1 is complete with an archival 2.55 bag from Gabrielle Chanel’s own collection. That same bag culminates the show, worn by the same model, wearing a classic Chanel tweed suit. Ready-to-wear remains defined by its details—a feathered hem, a roped edging or a blazer cinched closed with a delicate chain.
The defining theme throughout? Freedom of movement and self-expression, the lightness that comes with the exploration of self.
Bags Take Flight
Elsewhere, more literal thematic elements are present, golden birds mimicking the show set and invitation popping up on earrings, jewelry, and clothing alike. Bags, too, are right on theme, from a sequined cloud mini flap to croc-embossed pouches and a Classic 11.12 Flap bag embellished with golden birds.
Croc-embossing continues to be a large accessories focus, and this season the range includes colorful hues of bright orange, baby blue, bold red, soft lavender and more.
Exciting new shapes include an elongated east-west clutch, a cargo-inspired shoulder bag in quilted and smooth leather alike, and a new flap bag with an oversized CC flap clasp. Chanel collectors will delight at seasonal classics like a crystal Classic Mini Flap and the return of the Chanel Birdcage to the runway.
