A ’90s Fendi Icon Returns

Real OG Fendi fans know that the Baguette is not the only Fendi bag named after a French baked good. While the Baguette remains, arguably, one of the most beloved and widely recognized bags in the Fendi universe, the Croissant was once just as popular, and this season, it is back from the archives, given new life under Maria Grazia Chiuri’s creative reign.

The Fendi Croissant Bag: A Y2K Icon Returns

The Fendi Croissant bag first debuted on the runway for the Fall 1999 season, two years after the Baguette’s debut. The bag, which takes its name from the French pastry, mirrors a croissant with its soft, slouchy construction and crescent-like silhouette.

At the time, the Croissant bag was just as coveted as the Baguette, garnering waitlists by the early 2000s. Like its boulangerie-inspired sister, the Croissant bag arrived in a myriad of sizes and variations. Think suede, iconic Fendi Zucca, animal print, neoprene, and beaded iterations. If you could dream it, there was a Croissant bag for it.

Now, the Croissant returns to the Fendi lineup for Cruise 2027, celebrating the youthful ease and multifaceted appeal of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Fendi. This revival was imagined as an extension of Chiuri’s revival of the Baguette® 26424, building upon Fendi’s signature design codes and refreshing them with a modern feel.
