Is This the Greatest Crystal Gucci Bag Ever?

I’ve been in the bag world so long that I remember a time when logos were very, very, very out. The idea of carrying a logo bag was not only not a trend, but also seen as tacky in a way. But then, the logo came back, and it feels like that non-logo era was a blip of time that will never fully take hold again. Because logos are very in, in various manners.

Gucci was the first brand that I started to learn to re-love the logo. The classic GG monogram feels subtle enough; the tan-on-brown comes off as a neutral, while remaining iconic. And as a forever Gucci girl, I am always perusing the site to see what might catch my attention next. However, a few months ago, my friend was in Italy and sent me a photo of a bag. I hadn’t seen it before, and once she shared it, she and I both texted our adoration for it. It instantly made its way to the top of my wishlist, and I decided it just might be the best Gucci bag I’ve ever seen.

And here she is, in all her glory! This is the Gucci Aperitivo Crystal Shoulder Bag, and she is stunning. She is everything I love from Gucci, from the classic GG monogram to the Piston closure (think Gucci Jackie) to the all-over crystal finish.

The base is sand and dark brown GG canvas, a combination that already has my heart, but the clear crystals covering it are what sent me over the edge. You can still see the monogram underneath, and I love that Gucci didn’t lose that familiar feeling when adding all this sparkle. The gold-toned hardware and Piston closure finish it off, and honestly, there isn’t a detail here that I would want to change.

Gucci’s crystal pieces are some of the best: the best I’ve seen, the best as far as aesthetics go, and the ones you love most when I share them. So this bag? It is the best of the best.

Part of Gucci Primavera, the Aperitivo is meant for evenings and pre-dinner drinks, which feels very fitting for both the name and the bag. But I am also very much of the belief that you don’t need to save a bag like this for a special occasion. Jeans, a simple top, and this bag? That would do it for me.

What Fits Inside the Gucci Aperitivo?

The bag measures 10.2 inches wide by 5.7 inches high by 1.4 inches deep, so this is a slim shape with room for the essentials. Gucci lists an iPhone Pro Max or Plus, AirPods, a small wallet, and lipstick among what fits inside. The interior is lined in dark brown leather and includes one zip pocket.

There is a chain strap, along with a detachable, adjustable leather strap that allows you to wear it crossbody. I appreciate having that option, even if the chain is what I am immediately drawn to with this particular bag. Made in Italy, it weighs approximately 0.7 pounds.

I haven’t had this one in my hands yet, so the real-life what-fits test will have to wait. For now, I am admiring it from afar, zooming in on the details, and finding absolutely no reason to move it down my wishlist.
