Prada Bets Big on Feminine Skirts and Little East-West Silhouettes for Spring 2027

In the last few seasons, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons have continued to build upon the idea of fashion as conversation. An exchange of sorts, a dialogue created between a garment and its wearer. This season, that dialogue begins (and ends) with the skirt.

The skirt as an object, the skirt as a ruling body for the House of Prada—an item as integral to Prada’s DNA as the Prada triangle itself—is explored in its many forms.

As to be expected, the collection was full of skirts—lots of them. Some sleek and straight, others A-line and pleated, or floral and mini. There were leather skirts and printed skirts, bejeweled ones and others fastened closed with embellished Velcro bands.

The Skirt as Conversation

At Prada, it almost always comes back to Re-Nylon, one of the House’s most important brand signifiers, and this season, a parade of Re-Nylon skirts worn with tiny bralettes felt both of-the-moment and inherently Prada.

Speaking of tiny bralettes, many of the looks were styled with them, either worn alone, over a button-down shirt, or peeking out from underneath an outer layer. Some are styled with mini pouches made entirely of Duchesse satin. Each variation emphasized the skirt’s versatility and how the silhouette changes from person to person.

The East-West Silhouette Takes Shape

When it came to the bags, one shape also seemed to be the focus this season—the elongated east-west silhouette. The exaggerated form appeared across new styles and refreshed versions of Prada favorites like the Galleria, Bonnie and Passage bags, all distinguished by interesting proportions and long, slender handles. The Passage takes on a fresh attitude with a chic, slim profile, arriving in bold exotics.

Prada lovers will delight in a range of covetable new silhouettes. Among the standout styles is an east-west bag that plays with exaggerated proportions.

Its long, almost trapezoidal shape is both graphic and understated at the same time, defined by exaggerated yet monochromatic piping and a tone-on-tone Prada triangle on the bag’s canvas iterations, which lend a casual yet edgy appeal. Arriving in a range of colors, including royal purple and grass green, this line also features perforated leather and python versions.

New Shapes, Soft Lines

A softer, more fluid approach to the east-west shoulder bag arrives with the new Prada Courbe bag, which juxtaposes graphic lines with sculptural volume and unique folds. The Prada Courbe is further defined by its distinct frame closure, which lends an undeniably feminine appeal and emphasizes the bag’s shape.

Combining Prada’s distinct heritage with a modern feel, the new Prada Duel bag makes its runway debut, balancing form with fashion and function. Once again characterized by dramatic proportions and long, tubular handles, it features a double-flap construction and belted buckle details—a distinct brand signifier. The bag’s Soft Calf leather further emphasizes both the Duel’s rounded lines and Prada’s heritage craftsmanship.

A more feminine, structured approach to the belted shoulder bag arrives this season with the Romy Bag. The sharp, clean lines of the Romy bag are accented by long, thin handles, which can be both adjusted and completely removed.

Reimagining Prada Classics

Prada lovers will delight at the return of the classic Galleria to the runway. This season, the east-west iteration is reanimated with longer handles—a defining theme within the collection’s bags. Furthering its newness comes an innovative painted technique. When applied by hand, this technique creates a unique painterly effect with a darker, almost ombré perimeter.

Elsewhere, the Prada Geste is introduced, referencing the archives with details drawn from Prada’s 1988 collection. Like the new Courbe, the Geste features a frame-like mechanism, lending a modernist, feminine appeal.

While the collection’s bags were mostly rectangular in shape, the Route bag, which is introduced in a more compact variation, offers square proportions, while the Prada Deco is characterized by its flap top and jewelry-like finishes. Playing off of its name, the Deco’s closure, made from silver with marcasite and onyx, was originally designed by Mario Prada and is given new life for the Spring 2027 season.
