Reebok Just Released Darius Acuff’s First PE Sneaker
Veterans changing teams is always a major focus of any offseason, and a resulting plotline is how footwear brands respond to their new environments. It’s not as often that we can discuss a new face without a built-up cachet in the league. The rookie signature shoe is a fewer-and-farther-between proposition, but it’s something that Sacramento fans can look forward to as Arkansas phenom Darius Acuff finds himself in the purple and white. We may have to wait a bit longer yet to see the Reebok Acuff 1, yet the American company still has something in store as he logs his first NBA minutes.
In this renewed version of Reebok Hoops, it’s been the Engine series that’s held down the basketball roster outside of Angel Reese’s own design. Though the series has since been iterated on with the Reebok Engine A 26, Acuff reaches for the original Engine A, understandably, as he explains his personal connection to the silhouette:
The Engine A was the shoe that brought me to the brand. The first time I wore these I knew where I wanted to be, so it makes sense to start my pro journey with a PE of what started it all. Stay tuned for Acuff 1. – Darius Acuff on choosing the Engine A for his first PE colorway.
Perhaps as one last reach-back to his days as a Razorback, #5 reaches for a flooded red colorway on the ERS-powered kicks, with only a few hits of red on the branding notes and that proprietary cushioning interjecting in jet black. One point of emphasis that comes about as a result is the gothic “DA” logo on the tongue, the signature emblem that’ll surely be in heavy supply once his design comes to market.
The Darius Acuff x Reebok Engine A is available now in limited quantities, retailing for $120. Grab yours at reebok.com now; look for these on the court as well during the Kings’ opener against the Clippers.
