GucciCore Has Me Back in My Gucci Girl Era

Gucci just released its GucciCore collection, and it made me think about being a Gucci girl. I am in my Gucci girl era (okay, fine, 43-year-old woman), finding my way back to the all-black, NYC-esque ensembles I’ve always loved.

GucciCore is built around a curated wardrobe of enduring pieces. And while I don’t typically wear all black these days, each of these pieces makes me want to. Separately or together, they’re the kind of wardrobe staples I keep coming back to.

The Gucci Beatrix Brings Me Back

I start with the bag, because that’s what we are here for: the bags. The Gucci Beatrix is one I keep coming back to, mainly because it reminds me of one of the first bags that got me fully hooked on Gucci, the Horsebit Hobo.

I vividly remember tracking the Horsebit Hobo down after seeing it on Jessica Simpson and carrying that bag with such pride and joy. Also, if you really want to laugh, the bag was a gift from my dad to my mom, but I took it over. So the pride and joy also had a bit to do with successfully talking my mom into giving me the bag.

The new Beatrix reminds me of that design, with horsebit detailing atop the shoulder strap and luscious leather creating a soft, relaxed silhouette. It’s understated, but has that if you know, you know appeal. This is the kind of Gucci bag that first drew me in, so it will forever be a style I turn back to.

The Beatrix is available in a few different colorways and materials. Buy for $2,310 via Gucci.

The Horsebit Denim Is Haunting Me

Now we move on to the denim, and this pair of jeans is haunting me (but not in the spooky way, in the “I really need these” way). As a forever jeans gal, the right pair is integral to a great outfit.

These are so good, the kind of jeans that make the outfit, with a small horsebit detail below each front pocket. It’s a simple touch, but a beautiful one. There are two other washes, but the black denim gets my vote. Buy for $1,700 via Gucci.

A Leather Bomber to Finish the Look

The classic black leather bomber jacket is a closet staple. And this one? Well, this one looks like I need it. That’s all, that’s the review. Tell me I am wrong, though! Buy for $4,700 via Gucci.

The Bamboo Ballet Flats I Want to Try

Lastly, the shoes. But not just any shoes: ballet flats with that archival Gucci feel, thanks to the bamboo detail, without looking like they’re trying too hard.

The wide, rounded toe box looks like it could be comfortable, and at this stage of my life, I will always take comfort over all else. These look like the kind of shoes I could keep going back to, time and time again. If I try them on and they’re as comfortable as they seem, I am officially sold. Buy for $980 via Gucci.
