Give ASICS real credit; plenty of brands have found themselves holding the “shoe of the moment.” Plenty still have inadvertently taken the shine off of those same designs by releasing too many colorways too quickly. The Japanese giant has done well by using a steadier approach, offering up a few new looks every few months that’ve kept the GEL-Kayano 14 in the conversation as the “tech runner” movement flirts with the half-decade mark. The ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 “Sage” is a microcosm of that overall approach, showing real restraint in minting a season-ready arrangement. Y2K Chrome is still here in spades, but pale green branding and overlays meets pine GEL units for some sensible autumnal energy.
