DHAKA, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) — The World Bank (WB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide 2.5 billion U.S. dollars for financial sector reforms in Bangladesh.
The central bank of Bangladesh on Sunday received loan proposals worth 2.5 billion dollars from the WB and the ADB in several packages, including structural reform, policy implementation, and investment loans, Husne Ara Shikha, Bangladesh Bank spokesperson and executive director, told journalists.
As part of his bids to reform Bangladesh, Bangladeshi interim government’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday announced that the government has decided to form six commissions to reform the judiciary, election system, administration, police, anti-corruption commission, and the constitution. ■
