Nike Debuts The Hybrid Family, Their First Dedicated Hyrox Sneakers
Fitness’ latest sensation is Hyrox, a circuit-style competition in which athletes are pitted against each other not just in endurance, not just in strength, but in an unrelenting rotation of both. If you’ve ever found yourself on the business end of Nike’s “Everyone With A Body Is An Athlete” motto, their latest announcement will come as no surprise; those who compete in the growing category now have some Nike innovations to themselves via the Nike Hybrid family.
Given the quick transitions between lifting and racing, there’s been an equal arms race between the biggest sportswear companies to bring models to market that stand up to the unique challenges associated with hybrid training. For Swoosh devotees within the community, the Swoosh’s pinnacle race offerings have already been a popular choice, making the defining tech of that vertical a natural starting point for the Hybrid Fly and Hybrid RN.
The Fly presents a competition-ready pinnacle execution, while the RN is built for everyday training. Nike Air, ZoomX and ReactX foams and carbon fiber Flyplate define either, carrying echoes of the Nike Running category into this new life. The RN utilizes a wide-set platform and X-shaped containment in the upper to stand up to quick competition movement and stand up to station work with a firm, stable platform. Seen with a visible forefoot Air Zoom unit, the Hybrid Fly pushes that even further, meant to assist athletes to ultimate performance, but likely not built for day-in, day-out preparation.
The Nike Hybrid comes to market first via the RN, releasing in China on September 24th before coming to global channels on October 8th. The Hybrid RN retails at $150. The Nike Hybrid Fly is expected to debut sometime in April 2027.
