Mulberry Makes Its Long-Awaited Runway Return at LFW With Christopher Kane

In the last couple of years, Mulberry has quietly been hinting at its triumphant comeback, returning to its heritage roots, dropping buzzy new bags, and most recently, hiring a new creative director to sit at the brand’s helm—Christopher Kane, whose namesake label shuttered in 2023.

A New Chapter for Mulberry

If all of those subtle hints weren’t proof that the brand’s renaissance was about to begin, its first runway show in nearly a decade, presented yesterday at London Fashion Week for Spring 2027, certainly is.

The collection brings together Mulberry’s British roots and its heritage in leathercraft with strong tailoring and intricate, distinct construction, making the ready-to-wear feel modern and fresh. Of course, leather was a strong material throughout, with dresses, coats, and skirts referencing the original leather cutouts of the Mulberry Bayswater’s construction.

Christopher Kane Reimagines Mulberry

Heritage plaids and utilitarian codes nod to the brand’s distinct British sensibility, while Mulberry’s iconic Postman’s Lock makes its way onto a belt, shown worn with black denim. Elsewhere, the original 1990s Mulberry sweatshirt returns, paired with baggy trousers or a leather skirt and heels, which lends a very ‘morning after’ vibe.

The bags are truly something to marvel at. Innovative and sculptural, they are a poignant nod to the next chapter of the 55-year-old brand. Kane’s references to Mulberry’s heritage extend beyond the ready-to-wear, with a structured new Postman’s Lock shape taking center stage on the runway. Its curved bottom and classic flap closure appear as both a top-handle bag and a backpack.
