Jonathan Anderson Explores Romantic Lightness for Dior Spring 2027

It’s been a busy year for Jonathan Anderson, who presented his second Spring women’s ready-to-wear collection yesterday in Paris at the Tuileries Garden. The collection, which marks the designer’s seventh collection for Dior in a year, is the culmination of Anderson’s study of who the modern Dior woman is.
Jonathan Anderson’s Vision for the Modern Dior Woman
There is an overall element of lightness, a fluid romanticism that is both reminiscent of the times and of the past. The perfect example of this is this season’s iteration of the iconic Dior Bar Jacket. Designed in 1947, it has been a jumping-off point for Anderson since he started at Dior.
Spring 2027’s version is lightened—as is much of the ready-to-wear. The silhouettes aren’t exactly new, but the way in which Anderson has reinvented them is what feels fresh. Tailoring is sheer and ethereal, while dresses and skirts rendered in soft pleats offer movement and flounce.
The Details That Define Dior Spring 2027
As is to be expected, the collection is defined by its details, like soft petals used on earrings, bags and a jacket which was shown paired with a skirt and matching boa made entirely of florals. More casual menswear nods were present throughout, like striped shirting, reimagined as a blouse with unique folds.
As for the bags, this collection solidifies Dior’s cornerstone designs, like the Dior Bow Bag and the Cigale bag, which marked Anderson’s first big bag debut for Dior after first appearing on the runway for Spring 2026. The design appeared several times throughout the collection, in new metallic renditions carried over the shoulder as well as in python and patent.
Jonathan Anderson Reimagines Dior’s Most Iconic Bags
Where Anderson continues to innovate is in his use of Dior hardware throughout his bag offerings. An edgy new Dior Cannage leather satchel appeared, defined by an asymmetrical flap and D-I-O-R-lettered zippered pulls, spelling out Dior from left to right.
Elsewhere, a new mini bowler with elongated shoulder straps appeared in both Dior Cannage leather and ostrich, with CD hardware utilized in place of grommets, again emphasizing Anderson’s unexpected use of the Dior logo. Dior devotees will relish new takes on classic Dior bags, like Anderson’s iteration of the iconic Dior Saddle bag and suppler Lady Dior bags rendered in woven leather.
