For National Handbag Day, Carolina Herrera Has My Attention

I spend a lot of time looking at bags. It’s my job, but even after more than 20 years of doing this, I still get distracted by a bag in a photo and immediately need to know more. That was me when I saw Alexandra Leclerc carrying a lavender Carolina Herrera Mimi clutch. I loved the color, loved how it looked with her outfit, and it sent me down a rabbit hole, looking at more bags from the brand

With National Handbag Day tomorrow, it felt like a good time to follow that curiosity. We all have our favorite designers, myself very much included, and it’s easy to keep checking in on the same names. But some of the fun of loving bags is finding something outside of your usual rotation that makes you stop and think, “Wait, I really like that.”

Carolina Herrera is a name I know well, but its bags haven’t always been part of my regular browsing. Lately, though, I keep coming back to them. The lavender clutch caught my attention first, and now I want to spend more time with the rest of the collection. Sometimes all it takes is seeing one bag on someone else, like when I saw Michelle Monaghan, to get you looking at an entire brand differently.

For me, National Handbag Day is a good reminder to make room for that. Carry the bag you love, from the designer you love, whether everyone else is talking about it or you rarely see it out in the wild. And give yourself a chance to look around, too. You can love your longtime favorites and still find something that surprises you.

I’m always happy to have another bag to talk about, and right now, Carolina Herrera has my attention.

Getting to Know Carolina Herrera Bags

Once I started looking through the bags, I found quite a few I wanted to share. There’s plenty of color, which you know I’m always happy to see, along with satin, bows, floral embroidery, crystals, and leopard jacquard. If you have an event coming up, there’s a lot here to browse. But I also love the idea of taking one of these smaller bags to dinner just because you feel like carrying something special.

The Mimi is the style that first caught my eye, and it’s still one of my favorites. Its boxy shape gives you a small top-handle option in leather or satin, while the Mimi Bow adds a bow at the handle. I’m particularly drawn to the Plum and Forest Green versions. Those are both colors I’d happily work into my wardrobe, and the satin makes them especially pretty.

The Pats gives you several different directions within a clutch. There’s silk faille for those who want something simpler, leopard jacquard if you’re a print person, and floral embroidery or beaded crystals when you want the bag to be a bigger part of the outfit. I like having those choices. Sometimes I want the color to do the work, and other times I want all the detail.

Speaking of detail, there’s also the ribbon-detailed Margaret Satin Clutch and the Josefina Calla Lily Vertical Top Handle Bag, both worth a closer look if you’re browsing beyond the Mimi.

Carolina Herrera Bags, Spotted

Alexandra’s lavender Mimi may have started my browsing, but there are quite a few other Carolina Herrera bags worth a look on familiar faces. Becky G carried the Consuelo Leather Clutch in Herrera Red, while Tinx opted for the Pia Leather Clutch with its tassel detail. Kelsey Merritt carried the Vega Leather Clutch, and Caylee Cowan chose the Mimi in Rioja. I’m clearly drawn to the lavender, but Rioja gives that same bag an entirely different feel.

Then there are the more decorative options, which I always enjoy looking at. Jasmine Tookes carried the Josefina Calla Lily Vertical Top Handle Bag, while Malia Baker chose the Pats Calla Lily Leather Clutch. Camila Mendes went for the Pats Leopard Satin Clutch, and you know I have a soft spot for a good leopard bag.

I have finally moved out of my massive mom bag phase and now I am thinking that I want to move into these smaller, beautiful, statement bags. Maybe I need some new clothing too, and Carolina Herrera is a good place to start for that as well.
