For Celine Summer 2027, Michael Rider Reminds Us Why We Love Fashion

The last year has been one of the most tumultuous years in luxury fashion, with an unprecedented number of new creative directors settling into new roles at heritage Houses, and if this last year in fashion had to be described in one word, it would be this: joyful. Across the board, one of the major sentiments felt this year has been joy.
Michael Rider Finds Joy at Celine
Michael Rider at Celine tapped into that exact sentiment for Summer 2027, reminding us, if this year wasn’t proof, why many of us love fashion in the first place. At its simplest, fashion is a form of expression, and at its most complex, it is emotional—it is there through our happiest moments and our saddest.
The black dress worn to a loved one’s funeral; the strong-shouldered blazer you wore to the interview for your dream job; even the statement trench you wear every Saturday in the fall to your favorite farmer’s market. Moments—both incredibly poignant and not—marked by what we wore.
The New Celine
Rider so clearly designs with all of this in mind, reminding us that while fashion is meant to be thrilling and fun, it’s also meant to be wearable and transcend time, and this collection feels like just that.
When dissected, individual pieces are incredibly wearable, from strong tailoring and paper bag-waisted pants to breezy frocks and classic knits—meant to be mixed, matched and/or elevated with a statement piece like an embellished jacket, an oversized belt, a bold shoe or a pop of color.
The Bags of Celine Summer 2027

Where Rider continues to shine is his styling, largely defined by the collection’s accessories, including jewelry, hats, belts and, of course, the bags.
The iconic Celine Triomphe remains a defining element of Rider’s Celine bags, seen in many forms this season, from new Triomphe Canvas shapes like a chic new east-west top handle tote and a softer, more relaxed version of the Celine 16, which is also seen in leather.
A range of new Triomphe leather bags are introduced this season as well, from an elongated half moon flap bag, which appears in soft pop colors like pistachio green and denim blue, to a softened Triomphe flap shown tucked under the arm in white and black.
Elsewhere, chic new Celine Frame bags delight alongside a range of functional, yet inherently Celine, totes. View bags from the runway below.
