Demna Solidifies His Vision for the House of Gucci for Spring 2027

When Demna debuted his first collection for Gucci, it was instantly clear that a new era of the storied Florentine House was upon us.

Still, he spent the last year studying the heritage label’s 100-year history, expertly stripping back its DNA and reinvigorating the brand codes that have made Gucci what it is today—taking elements from various eras of the House and melding them into one ultra-distinct vision. That vision is cemented with Demna’s latest collection for Spring 2027, which made its debut at Milan Fashion Week on Friday.

A Gucci for Everyone

The collection is both the final chapter of Demna’s archival study as well as the next chapter in his vision for Gucci. What he has concluded is that Gucci is for everyone and anyone—creatives, intellectuals, aristocrats—people from all walks of life who have one commonality—a love affair with luxury and a deep-rooted desire to be part of a more glamorous world.

The collection, which was aptly titled The Store after the show space, which mimicked a retail space, hints at what Demna’s store design aesthetic will look like, offering a little bit of everything. From equestrian-inspired looks pairing slim-fit pants with blazers or button-ups to low-slung bottoms paired with skin-tight button-ups, there’s something for every version of the Gucci woman in this collection.

The Horsebit Takes Center Stage

Sharp tailoring and dramatically padded shoulders gave way to plenty of leather, lace, and dramatic cut-outs—adding a hint of sex appeal. The Gucci Horsebit remains one of Demna’s most prevalent signifiers, used throughout on skirts, belts, and, of course, bags.

Bags offered a little bit of everything—many with various iterations of the iconic Horsebit. There were slim shoulder bags for a night out on the town, a bamboo-inspired mini duffle bag, plus forever icons like the GG Marmont and the Ophidia, which made a poignant return to the runway this season.

Elsewhere, an incredibly polished new Horsebit tote with an uptown sensibility arrives in multiple iterations, from classic black leather to crocodile. It is designed with functionality in mind, containing a multi-compartment interior. Demna’s take on the party bag arrives in the form of a tri-belted Horsebit bag, because three Horsebits are definitely better than one.
